Burqa Mural

A security guard has been keeping watch over a controversial mural in Sydney, which urges the federal government to ban the wearing of burqas.

The artist responsible for the painting says he is not anti-Muslim but doesn't think women in Australia should be allowed to hide their faces.

The mural, at Newton in Sydney's inner west, has twice been defaced since work began on it earlier this week.

  2. I'm not one to go hatin' on religions, but I really think the Burqa aspect of Islam is kinda sexist.

Who cares if they wear a burqa or not, it's their choice we're still free in this world.

  10. People should be allowed to wear whatever they like. (outside of say, wearing nothing or perhaps covering your face in a bank)

What mouth-breathers fail to see is that coming down on the freedoms of muslims is coming down on their OWN freedoms.

  11. It seems our friends from Australia may be taking a play from France's playbook and be on the road to banning the Burqa as well.
